We do not surveil or use algorithms to collect/track user habits for any reason.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Personal Information

When you join Public Square Network and fill out your personal information, we do not sell or share this information to outside 3rd party advertisers or persons. Your personal information is private although if you have your information set to public and not private, your information may be seen by users on this site or outside. You are in control of your user information. We do not surveil or use algorithms to collect/track user profile information or habits for any reason.

Cookies

Public Square Network is committed to privacy and the least invasive use of cookies as possible. All internet and websites, without exception, use cookies for login data to sites and internet servers, display choices, to store posts/content, user identification and usage choices. This is how user databases on social media are stored. In order to use any internet, cookies are needed for basic identity. While so, cookies can additionally be used, by some, to track a user and their information and location. We do not surveil or use algorithms to collect/track user habits for any reason. Below, is a more detailed summary of our use:

If you leave a comment on our site your name, email address and website are used, in cookies, pre-stored. These are for your convenience to have the comment stored on the website. These cookies last for a year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. These are normal parameters with all websites. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

We do not share our user information and information from our cookies to outside 3rd party markets. Advertisers already collect internet users cookies from many companies, stores and internet servers, so when a user is on our site and ads are available, users advertising id may still be seen by advertisers and possibly post ads directed to them. This is out of our control and the nature of the internet. We do focus, largely, on advertisers that we choose, that are links to an advertisers site, and the advertisers do not have code written in our website, that searches for user information and data. When a user clicks on an advertisement, then the ‘interest’ of the user is collected by the advertiser and not PublicSquareNetwork. Users on the internet can learn to turn off their own personal advertising IDs that are by default embedded in their internet Profile, and limit advertisement tracking.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Is your data shared?

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. Otherwise your data is not shared to outside or 3rd parties, except within the parameters of legal action.

Advertisements

Advertisements use cookies to track user usage and to target ads to produce higher sales and productivity as well as sell products to users that they are interested in or need.

We do not share our user information and information from our cookies to outside 3rd party or advertising markets. Advertisers already collect internet users cookies from many other companies, stores and internet servers, so when a user is on our site and ads are available, users advertising id may still be seen by advertisers and possibly post ads directed to them. This is out of our control and the nature of the internet. When a user clicks on an advertisement, then the ‘interest’ of the user is collected by the advertiser and not PublicSquareNetwork. Users on the internet can learn to turn off their own personal advertising IDs that are by default embedded in their internet Profile, and limit advertisement tracking.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Is your data sent out?

Visitor comments may be checked through automated spam detection. No data or personal information is sold to outside marketers or bill collectors.
